Pool Pavers Installation

There are four main concepts in quality pool paver installation

Base – A rock-solid base is the foundation of every great pool paver project. We excavate and install a 6–8 inch layer of compacted crushed stone (or concrete base for heavier-use areas) that sits below the final grade. The taller or more elevated your pool deck, the deeper and stronger the base must be to prevent shifting, settling, or cracking over time.

Bedding Layer – Directly beneath the pavers we install a 1-inch layer of coarse bedding sand or a polymer-modified sand. This layer must be perfectly leveled and compacted so the pavers sit evenly, drain properly, and maintain a consistent surface that won’t become uneven or “spongy” years later.

Drainage – Proper drainage is critical around swimming pools. We design and install a slight slope (typically 1/8″ to 1/4″ per foot) away from the pool to prevent standing water. We also incorporate gravel-filled drainage trenches, perforated pipe where needed, and open joint spacing so water quickly moves away from the pool coping and deck, protecting your investment from erosion and efflorescence.

Paver Selection & Height/Thickness – Choosing the right pavers and installation height makes all the difference. We recommend 3″ thick pavers for pool decks to handle heavy foot traffic, pool furniture, and Florida’s harsh sun and rain. Taller pool decks or raised patios may require additional base depth and edge restraints. With the right pavers and layout, we can create beautiful multi-level designs, incorporate steps, seating walls, and stunning focal points while keeping everything safe and functional.
